The freestyle whitewater kayaking team trials wrapped up this afternoon in the Nantahala gorge. The water was a little big higher than most of the athletes are used to seeing at the which may have had a slight effect on some of the performances.
We saw a lot of new faces at this year’s team trials at the Nantahala Outdoor Center in Bryson City, North Carolina. We are used to seeing Dane Jackson take first place however we saw a different name in first place. Here is the results of the Mens K1 freestyle kayaking team trials. Hopefully the USA Freestyle Kayaking website will update sometime in the near future.

During one of his rides, Hunter Katich actually dislocated his shoulder. This injury is not too serious and Hunter should be good to go when the 2019 freestyle kayaking team travels to Sort for the world championships later this year.
Eric Jackson will serve as an alternate for the team and will likely serve as a mentor to the athletes as they prepare for the world cup.
