The Tsali Triathlon was held at the Tsali Recreation area near Bryson City, North Carolina. Athletes from around the country participated in this unique race. Although the event was classified as a Triathlon, it was a little bit different… In a good way.
While all triathlons consist of three different sports, the most common trio of sports is running, cycling and swimming. At the Tsali Triathlon contestants ran, mountain biked, and paddled their way to the finish line. This was a fun way to spice up the triathlon and give it a little mountain flavor.
What Was The Tsali Triathlon?
The Tsali Triathlon took place on November, 14th 2015 at the Tsali Recreation Area. The event was sponsored by the Nantahala Outdoor Center, Bryson City Bicycles, the town of Bryson City, and a few other big names.
For the first leg of the triathlon racers were faced with a 3 mile paddle racing kayaks made this paddle a little less exhausting but it was certainly still a workout. The paddle was followed by a 5 mile run. After paddling the run was not too exhausting but it certainly got the blood flowing. The final portion of the race was completed on a mountain bike and consisted of a 13 mile ride around the famous trails that wind through Tsali.
